"I've started to do productive things while on the subway...for some reason, I don't enjoy listening to music on headphones while in public places - it feels like blocking out an essential part of one's environment."
1. Consult your faculty advisor or the faculty member most familiar with you and your work to determine the appropriateness of the program to your needs and the best time for your application.

2. Consult your GLCA campus representative or contact GLCA New York for detailed program information and application forms.

3. Each applicant is required to write a letter of intent which states his or her purpose for wanting to study in New York. This letter should state the type of apprenticeship he or she would like. A New York faculty advisor arranges to match each applicant's specific desires with an appropriate sponsor.

4. A personal interview is required of all applicants. Because of the nature of the relationship between participant and sponsor, the New York faculty advisor must meet each applicant to determine the applicant's potential ability to work with any given sponsor. After the faculty advisor interview, appropriate sponsor interviews are arranged by the New York faculty advisor and the applicant visits the potential sponsors to explore the projected apprenticeships.

Most students will meet with a New York Arts faculty member on their campus. In addition, the application strongly suggests an interview in New York prior to the semester. Students are asked to submit convenient dates on their application. Upon receipt of applications, students are assigned an appropriate advisor who will confirm interview dates in New York.

Applications are due by March 31 for the September semester and by October 31 for the January term or semester. Admission to the New York Arts Program is competitive. Applications will be reviewed as they are received on a continuing basis; it is to the applicant's advantage to apply early. Late applications are reviewed on a space-available basis and must be accompanied by $100 fee for late processing.
